NLG Trip to Kenya September 2007 The Chance to Change a Life Sponsors And Support Sought • Sponsors • Fundraising • Donation of Goods for Sale/Auction /Raffle ALL WELCOME NLG will travel to Kenya in September to provide a range of performing arts activities and humanitarian services, including performances and workshops with aids orphans and the sick, a concert at Kakuma refugee camp and at schools. The trip is being planned in conjunction with St Anthony Aids Support Group (pdf). Established in 2003 and based in Eldoret, Kenya, the group provides various services such as assistance for AIDS sufferers, counselling for the infected and affected, and medical and socio-economic support for orphans and refugees (supplying food, covering fees for orphans, school uniforms and visiting the sick). See photos below and report (pdf) on the support groups activities. A detailed package seeking sponsors and support has been prepared. The package includes details about the trip, a report by St Anthony Aids Support Group, profiles of NLG, Director Robyn Kassas and Associate Artistic Director and Lead Performer Nathan Kassas. Also provided is photos of previous support and benefit work in Africa and photos of NLG performances at benefits and other events. NLG is known for its work with local youth and the professionalism of its performances. Next Level Generation provides free training in dance (hip-hop, jazz, funk etc) song and drama to approximately 200 children and youth each week. NLG has trained thousands locally and overseas in workshops. Training is of a professional standard. NLG performs free of charge at numerous community events and benefits, reputable events, small and large as described in the following literature. Youth are given the opportunity not only to train but to perform with us including this trip to Africa. The NLG team is lead by Director Robyn Kassas. Robyn Kassas has conducted numerous performance trips locally and overseas for over 10 years. (profile avaiable upon request). The team includes lead performer and Associate Artistic Director Nathan Kassas, recipient of Parramatta's 2005 & 2006 Young Citizen of the Year for his work with the youth in the community and performing arts. (Profile also available upon request). Nathan trains and dances with Sydney's best (included in Nathan's profile). NLG is comprised of local youth many of whom thought they could never dance, sing or perform. The trip is planned in response to an invitation from a local group in Kenya that works extensively with aids victims, orphans, refugees and the sick. This follows on from the existing work NLG is doing with the local African community and refugees here in Parramatta, surrounding districts and Western Sydney. NLG receives NO funding from any external or government body. Robyn, Nathan and NLG staff provide their services free of charge. Any assistance offered would be greatly appreciated. Support may include financial or goods donated for sale/auction/raffle etc. We currently are in discussion with a local major retailer in Parramatta and are planning a barbecue fundraiser event for 4 August 2007. We are also selling fundraising items including chocolates, drinks, scarves, earrings and bracelets. Ideally we are seeking businesses/organisations/individuals each for full sponsorship for 1 performer - equivalent of $2,000 Aus for travel and accommodation. If you would like to support this project please contact Tony or Robyn on (02) 9899 3090 or nextlevelg@optusnet.com.au to obtain an information package.
